WINSTON-SALEM , N.C. — Butler graduate and Winston-Salem State junior guard Nate Hartung has been named first team All-Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this season.

Winston-Salem State is 10-0 on the year, averaging 46.3 points per game, and Hartung is one of 10 players on the team named first team all-conference. Among the others is quarterback Kameron Smith, who threw a CIAA-record 37 touchdown passes this year.

BUTLER TWP — Butler’s freshman football team won its final seven football games this season to finish 7-2.Wins came against Shaler, Pine-Richland, North Allegheny, Knoch, Altoona, Fox Chapel and Seneca Valley. Only 22 of the team’s 42 players dressed for practice at one point due to injuries.Team captains were Tim Vernick, Don Noel and Nathan Kibbie. Head coach was Eric Christy.
