Violet 'Joan' Miles
Violet “Joan” Miles, 79, of East Brady died Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.
Born Aug. 6, 1933, in Queenstown, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Harry E. and Alice E. (Bowser) Crawford.
A graduate of East Brady High School, she married David Gene Miles on Feb. 17, 1951. He survives.
Joan was an active member of the East Brady United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the United Methodist Woman.
She was also a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 402, East Brady.
Joan enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and knitting.
She is survived by her husband, David Gene Miles of East Brady; one daughter, Amy and her husband, Rick, Snyder of Cumberland, Maine; and three sons, David Gene Miles Jr. of East Brady, Tim and his wife, Jeanne, Miles of East Brady and Drew and his wife, Betty, Miles of Bullard, Texas.
Joan also is survived by two sisters, Janice and her husband, Henry, Hall of Butler and Phyllis and her husband, Frank, Zavilla of Hillville, Armstrong County; one brother, Jim and his wife, Connie, Crawford of Queenstown; two sisters-in-law, Doris Crawford of Queenstown and Bertha Jean Miles of Butler; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald Crawford; and two sisters, Shirley Beabout and an infant, Bonnie Crawford.
MILES — Funeral services for Violet “Joan” Miles, who died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the East Brady United Methodist Church with the Rev. Craig Peterson officiating.
