Country star John Michael Montgomery will perform for the inaugural Country Music Show sponsored by Butler County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 107 at 1 and 6 p.m. Sunday at the Slippery Rock University Field House. The band North of Mason-Dixon, or NOMAD, will open for Montgomery. Admission is by $22.50 donation in advance, and paid admissions can be held at the box office. For tickets, call 724-282-9119. Harrisville Community Band will perform its annual fall concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Harrisville Fire Hall, 313 E. Mercer St. The band will play a variety of songs, including “Spania March,” “An American Christmas,” “Pixar Movie Magic,” “Fidelity March,” “Pachelbel's Canon” and “The Prince of Denmark March.” Jim Jaskowak, Grove City Middle School music teacher and resident of Jackson Center, will direct the band as its new director. Admission is free. Volunteer firefighters will have refreshments for sale.

Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts will host poetry and jazz at 2 p.m. Sunday in Lincoln Hall. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.Handel's “Messiah” rehearsals have begun for the New Castle Music Club under the direction of Butler resident Harry Cunningham. Rehearsals are from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays. Anyone who enjoys singing may participate.
