SRU field hockey grabs 8th victory

Lindsay Brown and Rebecca Williams each scored to power the Slippery Rock University field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Mansfield Wednesday, giving The Rock its second consecutive postseason berth.

The win, coupled with a Mercyhurst loss to No. 1 Shippensburg, gives SRU the No. 3 seed in the PSAC-West.

Courtney Lee finished with a career-high 12 saves for The Rock (8-8, 5-4), whose win total is the most by the team since 1998.

VolleyballJulia Kleinfelder (Knoch) and Christina Farmer (Butler) had 17 and 15 kills, respectively, to power Butler County Community College to a 23-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-17, 15-5 victory over Jamestown Community College.Bethany Easom added 19 digs, Makenzie Huey (Butler) 13 digs and seven kills and Jess Prelec (Slippery Rock) 43 assists for the Pioneers (18-4, 7-1), who play at Westmoreland CCC in the WPCC playoffs Saturday.
