Slippery Rock senior Brett Rinker shot an even-par 70 at Tom's Run Golf Course at Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort in Blairsville to finish second in the PIAA Class AAA Boys' West Region Golf Championships Monday.

Rinker fired a 34 on the back nine.

Kevin O'Brien of North Allegheny won the tournament with a 1-under 71.

Rinker, who won the District 10 Class AAA championship last week, will advance to the PIAA Individual Championships on Monday and Tuesday at Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center in York. The top-12 finishers moved on.

Freeport freshman Audrey Clawson shot an 85 in the Class AA Girls' West Region Championships to place seventh and advance to the PIAA Girls Championships, also at Heritage Hills, next week.

Karns City 3, Kittanning 2 — Evan McGarvey scored on a pair of penalty kicks and Tyler Pollock added a goal for the Gremlins (14-1).On Saturday, KC defeated West Shamokin 3-0 with McGarvey scoring twice and Anthony Easley finding the net once.Seneca Valley 4, Montour 2 — Anthony Crivelli tallied all four goals for the Raiders (13-4-1) and Ryan Vilella added two assists.

Butler 8, Brashear 0 — The Golden Tornado ended its season with an overall record of 8-8-1.Alexa Gray scored three times and Mackenzie Troyan earned the shutout in net.Mars 9, Indiana 0 — Tricia Glavin led the scoring with three goals.Karli Paracca (two), Lydia Dennis (two), Emily Diefenbacher and Beth Perri added scores for the Planets (15-1-1).

Freeport 3, Montour 0 — The Yellowjackets improved to 13-1 overall with this 25-13, 25-23 and 25-19 win at home. No other details were available.
