Roger Henderson

Roger W. “Gabby” Henderson, 75, of Butler passed away at 12:23 a.m. Thursday in the emergency room at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Jefferson Township, to the late Ralph W. Henderson and Mildred Bachman Henderson.

Roger was a 1955 graduate of Butler High School and worked in the north processing department at Butler Armco Steel, now AK Steel, retiring in 1996. He was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Roger was a former member of the Century Club and the Esquire Club. He loved being with his family. He also enjoyed music, dancing, sports and crossword puzzles and he loved doing construction projects.

Roger is survived by his wife, Carole J. Henderson, who he married Sept. 5, 1958; one son, Roger Scott Henderson and his wife, Lori; two daughters, Pamela S. Miller and her husband, George, and Leslie C. Dero, all of Butler; six grandchildren, Megan R. Graham, Emily S. Graham, Brittany L. Henderson, Brooke J. Henderson, Cameron T. Dero and Colton S. Dero; two stepgrandchildren, Jessica and Erica Miller; two brothers, Ralph B. Henderson and his wife, Sally, of Butler and Roland A. Henderson and his wife, Marilyn of Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Joan H. Scott and her husband, Wesley, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two nephews and one niece.

HENDERSON — Friends of Roger W. “Gabby” Henderson, who passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Butler, with Pastor Joel A. Benson officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel of All Faiths mausoleum at Greenlawn Burial Estates.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Butler, PA 16001, or to the American Heart Association of Western Pennsylvania, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235, or to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh Office, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
