Laura M. 'Peg' Cowfer

Laura M. “Peg” Cowfer, 89, formerly of Russellton and Sarver, died on Wednesday at Harmar Village, Harmar Township.

Peg was born on June 23, 1923, in Plum Borough, to the late John and Laura Walker Dickson.

She worked as a kiln operator for Saxonburg Ceramics for more than 20 years. She enjoyed bingo, jigsaw puzzles, reading, crocheting, playing cards and, especially, being with her family.

She is survived by her children, Fred (Bonnie) Cowfer of Verona and Norma (Wayne) Waugaman of New Kensington; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Agnes Cornmesser of Apollo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick O. Cowfer, who died May 11, 1997; a daughter, Ethel Russo; two sisters, Nancy Dickson and Bessie Shrum; and three brothers, Billy, Roy and James Dickson.

COWFER — Family and friends of Laura M. “Peg” Cowfer, who died on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, are invited to visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 501 Fifth Ave., New Kensington, 724-335-1951, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev.
