U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Norman Young III, son of Denise Smith of Bossier City, La., and Norman K. Young Sr. of Prospect, graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Young is a 2006 graduate of Bossier High School of Bossier City, La.

U.S. Navy Constructionman Robert Thibodeau III, who is assigned with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11, completed construction of a 3,100-square-foot medical facility at a combat outpost in southern Afghanistan.

The medical facility will provide evacuation support and trauma care for operating forces in the region.

Thibodeau is the son of Tammy Thibodeau and Robert Thibodeau Jr., both of Fenelton. He is a 2006 graduate of Butler High School and joined the Navy in 2011.
