GETTYSBURG — Jurors Pennsylvania have convicted a man of first-degree murder in the slaying of a state game warden.

The jury deliberated for less than hour Tuesday before delivering the verdict against Christopher Johnson. Prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty.

Defense attorneys had acknowledged Johnson fatally shot Wildlife Conservation Officer David Grove. But they had argued for third-degree murder, saying Johnson was too drunk to form the intent to kill.

MONACA — Shell Oil is offering to make payments to replace lost local taxes if a multibillion dollar petrochemical plant is built.The Beaver County Commissioners say Shell has offered to make the maximum payments-in-lieu-of-taxes if it builds the plant, which would convert natural gas into other products such as plastics.State officials have offered Shell significant tax breaks if it builds the plant here, but that deal could have squeezed the local school board and government of revenue.
