SLIPPERY ROCK — The Butler County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual dinner Wednesday at the new Robert M. Smith Student Center at Slippery Rock University.

The dinner will honor the 2012 William A. Morgan Entrepreneur of the Year and the chamber's Business Champion.

Bob McCafferty, owner of the North Country Brewing Co., in Slippery Rock is the entrepreneur of the year, and Sherry Kyne, owner of The Atrium and Eisler Nurseries on Route 422 in Prospect, is the business champion.

The dinner costs $50 a person and a table of eight can be reserved. Call the chamber at 724-283-2222 to make reservations.

AKRON, Ohio — An energy efficiency incentive program for West Penn Power commercial and industrial customers expires May 31, 2013.But they will need to reapply before Sept. 30 for the first phase of the programs.West Penn Power, a subsidiary of First Energy, will have seminars about the energy efficiency incentive program. The Butler County Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Development Center at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh will host “First Step: Business Startup Essentials,” at the chamber office in the Morgan Building, 101 E. Diamond St., Butler.The free workshop will be offered every other month.The first workshop will be Oct. 2 by Cynthia Laurash, who will be available to meet one-on-one with business owners and startups during the days of the workshops.For information or to register, call the chamber at 724-283-2222.

KITTANNING — The Butler County and Armstrong County chambers of commerce will host their third annual joint Meet-N-Move networking lunch Oct. 11 at the Belmont Ice Complex, 415 Butler Road.Cost is $20 per chamber member and $30 for non-members.Call the Butler chamber for reservations at 724-283-2222.

Future POS of Butler, which writes point-of-sales software for the hospitality industry, in July was awarded the Gold Vendor Award of Excellence from the Retail Solution Providers Association at the group's meeting in Las Vegas. Future POS has received numerous awards from the association in the past.
