BCC hosting pair of tennis events
PENN TWP — Butler Country Club will host two tennis tournaments over Labor Day Weekend.
The 10th annual Dave Barnes Pro-am will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Barnes was BCC’s first tennis club pro in 1975 and the tourney is held to recognize the better BCC male and female players. Eight pros and eight members will be participating.
The fourth Butler Country Club “Jamie” Adult-Junior Tournament will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday. Registration is at 1 p.m. This event is a memorial tribute to Jamie McCandless, a popular BCC junior tennis player killed in the summer of 2008.
Both events are open to the public. In the event of rain, they will take place at Lakevue Athletic Club in Valencia.
