Bus driver ill; pastor takes over
BEDFORD — A Megabus statement says a driver who fell ill on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, prompting a pastor on board to steer the bus to safety, is no longer employed by the company. Megabus officials aren’t identifying the driver who fell ill about 6 p.m. Monday near the Bedford exit on a trip from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh.
Megabus also says in the statement that while it is “extremely grateful” to Pastor James Grantz for steering the bus to safety, a review of surveillance video showed the driver — though ill — did remain conscious with her hands on the steering wheel, too.
