Knoch tops 'Jackets to open golf season

Knoch High's golf team edged Freeport 205-206 Monday at Saxon Golf Course.

The Knights were led by Stefan Carlsson's 38.

Audrey Clawson paced the Yellowjackets with a 38.

Grove City's Ed Hetrick fired a 76 as the Eagles placed first at the five-team event.

Grove City and Slippery Rock, paced by Brett Rinker's round-low of 73, both finished with 330 total strokes. The Eagles were awarded first place because of a fifth-place tiebreaker.
