Offering Inspiration
The Butler County Symphony Orchestra has tickets available for its upcoming season with new conductor and musical director Matthew Kraemer.
Kraemer will lead the orchestra in a six-concert series with the theme “Inspirations.”
The first show of the 64th season will be at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 in the auditorium of the Butler Intermediate High School, 551 Fairground Hill Road, where all the concerts take place.
The features of each program are:
• "Italia,” Oct. 6, with the orchestra playing such familiar classics as Roman Carnival Overture, Capriccio Italien and Pines of Rome.
• “Jazz,” Nov. 3, with the Joe Negri Trio, and a tribute to Irving Berlin.
• “Holidays,” Dec. 1, with traditional seasonal selections and Butler Senior High Singers directed by Bryan Helsel.
• “Passionate Russians,” Feb. 9, with saxophonist Arthur Black and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.
• “Movie Night,” March 9, featuring the winner of the annual college-age Young Artist Competition. The orchestra will play familiar music and themes from popular recent movies.
• “Far Away Places,” April 13, with pianist Enrique Graf performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major.
Besides conducting in Butler, Kraemer also serves as the resident conductor of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and in this role appears on each of the orchestra’s major series, including subscription weeks, pops, family and summer concerts.
