A Little Bit Country
The New Young Women of Country, featuring Katie Armiger and Butler native Sydney Hutchko, will open the 2012-13 Performing Arts Series at Butler County Community College.
They will perform at 8 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Succop Theater on campus.
Armiger recently released “Confessions of a Nice Girl.”
A previous single, “Kiss Me Now,” which she co-wrote with Sarah Buxton and Blair Daly, was her second to hit the Top 40 on the Billboard Indicator Chart, while “Trail of Lies” landed in the Top 20 on Music Row, setting a mark as the Highest Charting Independent Female Artist in 2009.
Armiger also earned the title of the Highest Charting Independent Female Artist of 2008 with “Unseen.”
She also set yet another record for the highest debut for a solo independent artist since 2003 on the Music Row chart with her debut single, “17 in Abilene,” in 2007.
Her current single “Scream,” which she co-wrote with Buxton and Daly, is climbing the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart.
Emerging artist Sydney Hutchko was born and raised in Butler, but now is pursuing a career in Nashville.
She grew up singing wherever she could and at age 12 began writing songs.
She wrote many tracks for her self-titled extended play release, which came out in June 2011.
She has opened for Miranda Lambert, Charlie Daniels, Brett Eldredge, Tanya Tucker, Craig Morgan, Jamey Johnson, Colt Ford and George Jones.
The remainder of the BC3 Performing Arts Series will feature three more shows plus four concerts by the Pittsburgh Philharmonic.
