BlueSox get sweep on road

Brandan Costantino, George Roberts and Jason Radwan each tallied three hits as the Butler BlueSox collected 14 hits in an 8-7 victory over host West Virginia in Prospect League baseball play on Tuesday.

The BlueSox (2-0) continued their good start to the second half of the season with an 8-3 win at West Virginia on Wednesday night. Chris Maragon worked eight innings, striking out four and allowing only five hits.

Roberts scored two runs and drove in one while Radwan scored one and drove in two in Tuesday’s victory.

Butler used a quartet of pitchers, but it was starter Dave Yakopec who got the win after allowing three runs on seven hits in five innings. He struck out four and walked four. Also seeing time on the mound for the Sox were Dave Kucenic, Jon Danielczyk and Adam Dian.

Dian picked up the save after pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Butler pounded out 15 hits Wednesday. Elliot Caldwell was 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, hiking his batting average to .423. Kyle Petty had three hits, including a double, and Gavin Meyer had two hits and two RBI.

The BlueSox have road games tonight and Friday at Chillicothe before returning home to face Lorain County Saturday night at Pullman Park.
