BUTLER TWP — Butler Memorial Hospital has received an “A” Hospital Safety Score from the Leapfrong Group, an independent national nonprofit organization run by employers and other large buyers of health benefits.

The score is based on public records regarding the hospital’s data on patient injury rates, medical and medication errors and infection rates.

Ken DeFurio, Butler Health System president and CEO, said the score is the result of a “multi-year disciplined focus on quality and safety.”

Home sale prices increase in MayPITTSBURGH — RealSTATS has announced that the amount of money from home sales in the Pittsburgh region was up in May for the eighth consecutive month to 23.3 percent, or nearly $80 million, up from an 18.1 percent increase in May 2011.Money from Butler County sales jumped 27 percent in May, with 45 homes sold last month.The average home price in Butler County was $212,100 in May, leading the region, followed by Washington County at $174,100 and Allegheny County at $158,700.

Tom Corbett has announced the nomination of Lisa Barbour of Mars to serve as a member of the state Professional Standards and Practices Commission.Her nomination must be confirmed by the state Senate.Michael Baker of Worthington has been approved to serve on the state Industrial Board.

PERSONNEL FILES&T Bank of Indiana, Pa., has announced the retirement of Edward Hauck, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer. The bank has branches in Butler County.
