BlueSox streak hits 6 games
Neal Jacobs had a big night for the Butler BlueSox, who had a big night themselves.
Butler swept a doubleheader at Lorain County, Ohio,. Wednesday night, winning games by scores of 2-1 and 6-5. The sweep gives the BlueSox (12-8) a franchise record six-game winning streak.
Left fielder Jacobs drove in both BlueSox runs in the first game Wednesday in Prospect League action.In the second game, he was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Butler scored the game-winning run in the nightcap during the final inning. Jason Radwan drew a walk, moved to second on a Jacobs’ single, stole third and scored on a wild pitch.
Both games were scheduled seven-inning affairs after Tuesday’s game was postponed due to unplayable field conditions.
Justin Brozick drove in three runs in the nightcap.
Chris Marangon got the win in the opener for Butler, working 6 1/3 innings, striking out seven and walking just one.
Adam Dian got the final two outs to earn his league-leading sixth save.
Dian, a native of Gibsonia, has struck out 26 batters in 14 innings this season and opponents are batting a mere .130 against him.
David Kucenic got his first win of the season in the second game. Kyle Petty picked up his first save after playing most of the game at third base.
The BlueSox return home tonight, hosting Chillicothe at 6:35 p.m. at Pullman Park.
