East edges West in All-Star game

Alex Scialabba scored the winning run on a groundball hit by Colin McKee in the bottom of the seventh inning as the East beat the West 8-7 in the Butler County Legion Baseball All-Star game Sunday at Pullman Park.

Scialabba had walked to lead off the frame, moved to second base on Joe Barnhart's bunt and stole third base to set up the winning tally.

Scialabba ended the game with a pair of base hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Ryan McCrea added two doubles and an RBI and Joe Holfelder a double and two runs batted in.

For the West, Hunter Balliet had two singles, a run scored and one batted in and Brady McCorry a double and a run scored.

• Cody West threw a complete game four-hitter with nine strikeouts as Meridian defeated Slippery Rock 5-1 on Saturday night.

• Jake Campbell tripled and drove in a run while Kyle Peskowitz doubled for Meridian.

• Cameron Neil had two singles for Slippery Rock.
