Butler students graduate with distinction
Eight additional honor students with distinction were added to the Butler High School Class of 2012. Students who have achieved a 4.3 or higher are given the designation.
They are: Dylan Ahrens, Jennifer Barry, Kendra Bobby, Monica Caparosa, Joshua Daum, Xavier Krause, Jeremy Taggart and Amber Zanella.
• Dylan is the son of John and Elaine Ahrens of Butler. He was a member of Student Council and the cross country and track teams. He plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in chemistry.
• Jennifer is the daughter of Stephen and Eileen Barry of Butler. She was a member of the soccer and basketball teams. She plans to attend Butler County Community College and major in photography.
• Kendra is the daughter of Jessica Thomas of Renfrew. She was a member of the Junior Classical League and the Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of America. She plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in biology.
• Monica is the daughter of Marilyn Horan and Joseph Caparosa of Butler. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the marching band, the golf team, the Thespian Club, the Outdoor Club and the all-school musical. She plans to attend Penn State University, majoring in food science.
• Joshua is the son of Dave and Karen Daum of Butler. He was a member of the National Honor Society, marching band and the tennis team. He plans to attend Robert Morris University and pursue actuarial science as a major.
• Xavier is the son of Pam and Steve Krause of Butler. He was a member of the soccer and volleyball teams. He plans to major in biology at St. Francis University.
• Jeremy is the son of Paul and Darlene Taggart of Butler. He was a member of the indoor and outdoor track teams. He plans to major in biochemistry at Washington & Jefferson University.
• Amber is the daughter of Mark and Lauren Zanella of Chicora. She was a member of the National Honor Society, high honor roll and was captain of the swimming and diving team. She plans to attend Otterbein University and major in equine pre-veterinary studies.
