Local baseball

Last night I was score keeper for a baseball game of 11 and 12 year old boys. We had lost to this team before on their home field. As a matter of fact, they 10 runned our team that game. Yesterday they were short two of their players, one that had hit a home run with the bases loaded! We were down one of our guys--a good pitcher.

Inning for inning the strike-outs were similar, the errors also. Top of the 6th, they lost. After the game one of their fathers came over to the man umpiring and said, "Hey Ump, next time they call you, you should say "no". The umpire stated that if the man did not like the calls, maybe he should not attend the games. The next comment out of the father, at a game for young ball players, would have embarrassed anyone.

Hey Dad. Next time check out the stats for both teams before you make an ignorant comment to another member of the sporting community--or better yet, get the gear on and be an intrinsic part of the game instead of a rude spectator. In other words, step up to the plate. Let's see if YOU can handle the heat.

Most Sincerely,

Beth Hutchinson
