GROVE CITY — Slippery Rock High School graduate and Grove City College sophomore Sarah Cessar has qualified for the ECAC Championships Thursday and Friday in Troy, N.Y.
Cessar will compete on the Wolverines' 3,200-meter relay unit, which compiled a season-best time of 10 minutes, 3.64 seconds at the Grove City Invitational March 20.
She also qualified in the 3,000 steeplechase, setting a school-record time of 11:38.15 at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational March 31.
Cessar is one of 13 GCC athletes competing in the ECAC meet.
NEW CASTLE — John Aubrey of Aubrey’s Dubbs Dred and Scally’s Golf Center’s Chuck Scally teamed up to fire a 7-under-par, two-round total of 137 to place second at the Adams Golf Cutter & Buck Pro-Pro Championship Monday at the New Castle Country Club.The duo finished six strokes behind champions Kevin Shields of Sewickley Heights Golf Club and Adam Corson of Dick’s Sporting Goods.Rob McClellan of Butler Country Club and Ryan Sikora of Dick’s Sporting Goods, as well as Joe Boros of Treesdale Golf & Country Club and Dennis Munko of Birdsfoot Golf Club both tied for fifth place (139); while Denny Dolci of St. Jude’s Golf Club and Bob Meyer of Valley Brook Country Club tied for ninth at 142.
