Net worth historically has the top 1% owning about 30% of all wealth. (1920-2007)
Your final statement is wildly inaccurate......that 85% of all wealth is owned by the top 1% is nowhere in that study (try about 37%).
My question is: "How did the top 1% acquire their wealth?" The study you cited said that only 1.6% of all wealthy received $100,000 or more from inheritances. So, if not from inheritances, then how?
My guess is that they are generally highly educated, motivated, and risk-taking entrepreneurs and professionals.
Education helps level the playing field. Taking money from one group to hand to another group only prolongs the status quo.
