Knoch softball bats key 16-6 win over Hampton

Abbi Smithmyer had a single, double, triple and drove in four runs and Karsan Simpson a single, two doubles and three RBI to power Knoch to a 16-6, five-inning softball victory over Hampton Thursday.

Codi Reed added three hits and four RBI for the Knights, who erased a 6-0 deficit after two innings.

In other games:

• Taylor Rotz tossed a complete game three-hitter and added a two-run homer, single, double and three runs scored in Mars' 7-0 victory over Valley.

Erin Hershman added three hits, including two doubles and two RBI.

• Morgan Deal had four hits, including two doubles, Clara Stoughton a home run, single and double and Kara Kerschbaumer a single, double and triple to propel Karns City to a 9-5 victory over Venango Catholic.

• Hannah Henry had a single, double, RBI and a run scored, but Butler fell at Elderton 7-6 in non-section play.

On Wednesday, the Tornado were no-hit by Pine-Richland in a 4-0 section loss.

• Led by pitcher Holly Colosimo, Moniteau picked up three victories at the recent Myrtle Beach Tournament, defeating Jefferson (Oh.) 12-4 on Monday, Pulaski (N.Y.) 9-6 on Tuesday and Chesterfield (S.C.) 11-1 on Wednesday.

Colosimo had 27 strikeouts and allowed one walk over 19 innings.

Against Jefferson, the Warriors (4-1) rapped out 25 hits.

Chad Albert had 12 kills and a pair of aces to lead Seneca Valley to a 3-0 sweep of Shaler.Brian Pudlo added 11 kills, Eric Speicher seven kills and Max McCloskey 26 assists in the win, which came by scores of 25-10, 25-12 and 25-15.
