Mars science fair slated for Wed.
ADAMS TWP — The public is invited to the Mars High School gymnasium Wednesday to see more than 240 student projects at the Mars Elementary Science Fair.
It will run from 6 to 8:15 p.m.
Fair coordinator Carol Knox, who also is the PTO president, said students worked individually or in teams to create the projects. One unique entry examines which mouth is dirtier, an elementary student’s or high school student’s.
“They mean germ wise, not language wise,” Knox said.
Knox said the fair last year had 170 entries. She attributes the hike in participation to word-of-mouth among students, who heard from their peers that science can be fun.
“People had a really good time last year, and it was really fun,” Knox said.
“People will be very impressed with what these kids have come up with.”
She said the main benefits of the science fair are teaching students a sense of accomplishment, the ability to follow a project to completion, an introduction of students to science and a demonstration that science is not boring.
