Knoch softball cruises to win

Mikayla Moretti went 3-for-4 with a home run, two singles and three RBIs to pace the Knoch softball team to a 12-3 victory over Freeport in the season opener Friday.

Rachel Neff also collected three hits and added two RBIs for the Knights (1-0), while Karsan Simpson blasted a two-run homer.

Britni Brandstetter struck out five, walked none to earn the win and added two singles at the plate.

Elsewhere:

• Ciara Mislan scored in the top of the eighth inning on a Bethel Park error, crossing the plate with the deciding run in Seneca Valley's 2-1 road victory.

Mislan had singled earlier in the frame and moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt.

Emily Watson pitched the entire game for the win, striking out two and walking three.
