HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Game Commission reports an estimated hunter harvest of 336,200 deer during the 2011-12 season, an increase of six percent over last year.

Last year’s estimated harvest was 316,240.

Harvested deer in the Butler County area in 2011-12 are 16,300 antlered, 29,100 antlerless. Those numbers were 16,690 and 29,900 in 2010-11.

Yearling bucks comprised 50 percent of the antlered harvest this year. Prior to the start of current antler restrictions in 2002, yearling bucks comprised 80 percent of the antlered harvest.
