Plunging Prices
Fueled by a price war, the cost of gasoline continued its drop as shown in this photograph from March 6, 1986, at a gas station in Butler. The price also included attendant service; the price of crude oil had dropped below $13 a barrel in the U.S. Today, oil prices have jumped past $105 per barrel with prices at the pump in Butler at $3.69 per gallon, with motorists doing their own pumping.
