New chief takes over Irene Stacy

Laubacher
He starts post on Feb. 20

BUTLER TWP — Irene Stacy Community Mental Health Center has a new executive director.

Steven Laubacher comes to Butler from Portland, Ind., where he has served as executive director of the Community and Family Services agency for the past year.

He starts Feb. 20.

“For the past 10 to 15 years of my career, I have focused on non-profits, to help bring business practices to humanitarian services,” said Laubacher, adding that that seemed to be what the Irene Stacy center was looking for.

“So I’m excited that it will be a good fit,” he added.

Laubacher earned his bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Dayton (Ohio) in 1969, and his master’s degree in sociology/psychology/philosophy from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in 1971.

He went on to receive a doctoral degree in public policy and organizational behavior from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas, in 1990, and a master’s in public administration from Harvard University in 1994.

Laubacher has worked in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Illinois and Indiana since 1975, all for nonprofit or governmental health care and mental health facilities.

“I believe in positive change and complete transparency,” he said.

Taylor Wyman, an Irene Stacy staff member, has been promoted to assistant executive director, effective immediately.
