College freshmen get scholarships

Four students who are graduates from Butler High School’s College Tech Prep Program will each receive $1,000 scholarships provided by Amerikohl Mining in memory of attorney Bruno Muscatello.

The students, who were selected by the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation, are:

• Leslie Hazlett, a freshman at Kent State University, majoring in nursing. Hazlett is the daughter of Scott and Mary Ann Hazlett of Butler.

• Sara Cobern, a freshman at Penn State University, majoring in mathematics. Cobern is the daughter of Stephen and Cheryl Cobern of Butler.

• Amanda Skidmore, a freshman at Fairmont State University, majoring in graphics technology. Skidmore is the daughter of Christopher and Kimberly Skidmore of Butler.

• Jennings Graham, a freshman at Butler County Community College, is majoring in engineering. Graham is the son of Stephen and Linda Graham of Butler.

The Amerikohl Technical Scholarship in memory of Bruno Muscatello was established through the foundation for Butler High School graduates who have completed the first semester of their freshman year in college or technical school, and who are pursuing a career in science, engineering or other technical fields.

A review committee considers academic merit, need and a student essay in the selection process.
