The government powers are pushing today for a larger market in the use of oral birth control. Current birth control pill use already has environmental effects. It should be a concern for any political party that has special interests in the environment and I wonder why there is not more about these effects in the news. Waterway tests are showing significant rises in estrogen. The reason is due to the prevalent use of the pill where its active ingredient estrogen and the consequence that this hormone is not broken down by a women's bodies is being flushed out into sanitary systems. As this estrogen laced waste water reaches the sewage treatment facility it is not removed or treated and remains in the water where it eventually ends up in the waterways. Documented studies show that fish populations in the waterways polluted by estrogen are overwhelmingly female. If it is in the waterways there is a good chance that is also in people's tap water. People should be concerned if any of this estrogen laden water gets used for drinking water. Any study where the birth control pill use effects the fish there may be cause for effects in human consumption, especially growing children. There should be more than fish studies being done to be sure that none of this tainted water is used for drinking before it has its effects on small children. When any of this water with environmental estrogen has been used for drinking there is a need to look at resulting effects on humans and its birth statistics of sexes as well. Usually there is a staunch advocacy by a certain political party for the protection of the environment where pollution and the like are caused by big business, but instead this party has its sites on dealing out the drugs.
