Edward J. “Eddie” Beckwith, 77, of Cranberry Township passed away on Sunday at his home.

Born Oct. 14, 1934, in McKees Rocks, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Maxin) Beckwith.

Mr. Beckwith was a member of the St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Cranberry Township. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, who proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He was a member of the Cranberry VFW Post 879.

He was an avid fisherman, made his own lures, enjoyed gardening, was an excellent mechanic and loved rebuilding cars. His greatest joy was his family, especially his three grandsons.

Mr. Beckwith is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joanne M. (Silvio) Beckwith, who he married Oct. 25, 1955; a daughter, Joanne Lynne (Amir “Bizhan”) Ranayhossaini of Harmony; two sons, Joseph A. Beckwith of Cranberry Township and Edward A. Beckwith of Hampton, Va.; three brothers, George Beckwith of Connecticut, Louis J. Beckwith of Florida and Lewis J. “Butch” Beckwith of Allison Park; and three grandsons, Benjamin, Daniel and Nicholas Ranayhossaini.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa.

<B>BECKWITH</B> — Friends of Edward J. “Eddie” Beckwith, who passed away on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at <B>Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home and Cremation Services</B>, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Cranberry Township, with Father Edward Kunco officiating.
