EASTON — Mars kicker Ryan Gralish and Seneca Valley offensive lineman David Miller signed football letters-of-intent with Lafayette College of the Patriot League Wednesday.
Lafayette is coming off a 4-7 season and is 66-69 in 12 years under coach Frank Tavani. The Leopards were Patriot League champions from 2004 through 2006.
Ex-BlueSox players now top prospects
Former Butler BlueSox players Ben Rawding and Shayne Houck are listed among the top 20 NCAA Division II baseball prospects in the country by Perfect Game, an amateur baseball scouting service.
Rawding, a left-handed pitcher, was 7-1 with a 2.19 earned run average at Mercyhurst College last season. He is listed as the 15th overall prospect. Rawding was 2-2 with a 6.64 ERA in eight starts with the BlueSox in 2010.
Houck, a third baseman with Butler and an outfielder at Kutztown, led the PSAC in home runs, total bases, on-base percentage and slugging percentage last spring. He hit a record 10 home runs with the BlueSox. Houck is listed as the 20th overall prospect.
K of C contest winners setCABOT — The Cabot Knights of Columbus #11388 recently held its 17th annual Free Throw Championship with 51 participants in five divisions.Winners were 10-year-olds Brady McKee and Cordray Negley of Butler, 11-year-olds Andrew Kristofic of Butler and Chloe Kurpakis of Sarver, 12-year-olds Cade Negley of Butler and Sara Armahizer of Saxonburg, 13-year-olds Zach Inklovich and Makayla Burtner of Butler, and 14-year-old Aiden Albert of Saxonburg.Champions will compete in the K of C Western Regional March 3.
Cabot’s Henschel on Today ShowCABOT — Cabot resident Tom Henschel, one of only three people to attend all 45 Super Bowl games, will appear in studio on NBC’s Today Show at 9 a.m. Friday.Henschel, 70, will make the appearance with the other two witnesses at every Super Bowl — Larry Jacobson of San Francisco and Don Crisman of Maine. He is leaving today for Indianapolis, site of Super Bowl XLVI.
