Bauer-Hillis celebrates 100th anniversary
RIMERSBURG — Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
The funeral home opened in 1912 as the Stewart Funeral Home by owner Cember “CB” Stewart. The home later was owned by James “JD” Miller and Richard Hillis, with the Bauer family buying the funeral home in 2010.
The funeral home is celebrating the anniversary throughout 2012 with the “Twelve Months of Giving.”
“Every month in 2012, we will sponsor an event to benefit the Rimersburg area, ranging from visits to individual organizations to fun family outings,” said Deanna Turner, a funeral home manager and director.
An ice cream social will be held Thursday at the Rimersburg Senior Center during the lunch hour.
At 11:30 a.m. Monday, state Rep. Donna Oberlander, R-63rd, and other community officials will present the funeral home with a proclamation at the home, 758 Main St., Rimersburg.
Then, Turner said, each month an area business or organization that has fostered the growth and development of the funeral home will be picked to receive a surprise treat.
