Chatham University

Chatham University prepares students from around the world to develop solutions to some of the world's biggest challenges.

Consistently ranked among the top master's level institutions in the Northeast by U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review, Chatham is also ranked in the top five percent of graduate-intensive institutions nationally and experienced the fastest-growing enrollment in the Pittsburgh region over the past decade.

From its founding in 1869 as one of America's first women's colleges, Chatham has grown to include graduate programs for women and men as well as online and hybrid degree programs.

The university has also physically expanded from its historic 39-acre Shadyside Campus with the addition of Chatham Eastside in East Liberty and the 388-acre Eden Hall Campus 20 miles north in Richland Township.

It offers several distinctive programs for undergraduates and graduates alike.

• The undergraduate curriculum, combined with the Senior Tutorial, an original research project guided one-on-one with a Chatham professor, provides an excellent foundation to continue to graduate and professional schools. Chatham College for Women offers strong preparation for law school, medical school, and science-based graduate programs as well as Chatham's own graduate degree programs.

• Transfer students have access to scholarships as well as a generous course-by-course transfer policy and individual advising.

• Undergraduates can earn both a bachelor's and master's degree in as few as five years. Qualified students may pursue a graduate program at Chatham University or at the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University.

• Chatham offers over two dozen graduate degrees through the doctoral level, both on the ground and online. Programs include accounting and business, creative writing, biology, counseling psychology, film and digital technology, food studies, interior and landscape architecture, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, teaching, and sustainability.

• Our new School of Sustainability and the Environment provides innovative, interdisciplinary education and research opportunities for students to better prepare them to identify and solve challenges related to the environment and sustainability. The University is now accepting applications for its new Master of Sustainability and Certificate in Sustainable Management, both of which will launch in fall 2012.
