Dorothy M. Flick
Dorothy M. Flick, 95, a lifelong Chicora resident, died at 4:35 a.m. Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler following a brief illness.
Mrs. Flick was born May 13, 1916, in what was then Millerstown, now Chicora. She was the daughter of Christian and Cora Craig Hopper.
A longtime member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Mrs. Flick was involved in the church's Martha Circle.
Mrs. Flick enjoyed traveling, especially bus tours with her friends, playing cards and being in the company of her family and friends.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Butler Chapter 45 and had been a member of the former Chicora Chapter 354. She was a dedicated and caring volunteer for the Easter Seals Society and worked diligently for the organization as a fundraiser.
She was a 1934 graduate of Butler High School. In her earlier years, she had worked at Woolworth's in Butler
She was married for more than 40 years to Carl E. Flick, who preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1986.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol L. Kelly of North Phoenix, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Amy C. Kelly and her husband, Jay Jurma, of Hamtramck, Mich., and Erin C. Kelly and her husband, Nathan Jones, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a great-granddaughter, Christine Kelly Jones of Scottsdale; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Flick was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dan Andrew Kelly; two brothers, Clayton Hopper and Edward Hopper; and three sisters, Mary Lou Hopper, Helen Hopper and Ellen “Sis” Hopper Bence.
<B>FLICK</B> — Friends of Dorothy M. Flick, who died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, will be received at <B>Hile Funeral Home of Chicora</B>, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, with the Rev. Joseph Boomhower, church pastor, officiating.
