BUTLER TWP — A second-half rally fell short Monday night as the Butler County Community College women's basketball team dropped a 53-49 decision to CCAC South.

The Pioneers trailed by 10 at halftime, but had a chance to take the lead with 30 seconds left in the game. Emily Wise scored 17 points, Karyn Larson had 12 points and 15 rebounds, Casey Fleeger 11 points for BC3.

Erica Schultheis had 11 rebounds and Heather Cooper eight for the Pioneers.

LOCK HAVEN — Two Slippery Rock University athletes have received PSAC-West Athlete of the Week honors in their respective sports.Julia Cain, a sophomore pole vaulter on the women's indoor track and field team, cleared 12 feet, 5 1/2 inches at the Kent State Golden Flash gala, which gives her the best mark in the PSAC and the second-best in Division II.Cameron Daugherty, a junior pole vaulter on the men's team, had a vault of 15-6 3/4 inches at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala, which is the best in Division II.
