Georgia A. Biehl Shaub

Georgia A. Biehl Shaub, 89, of Mechanicsburg died Tuesday at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg.

She was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Butler, to George and Anna (Atkinson) Biehl. She had one sister, Betty J. Rivers, who died in March 2010.

She was raised in Butler by her maternal grandparents, and she was a 1942 graduate of Butler High School.

Georgia began work in Butler as an operator with Bell Telephone Co. She retired from the former Bell of Pennsylvania in 1983.

Georgia married John H. Shaub and followed him with his work in radio as far as Iowa. Georgia enjoyed drives around the countryside in Pennsylvania and made regular trips to her sister and cousin in Butler.

Georgia was a faithful member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in America in Harrisburg and was a longtime resident of Harrisburg, where she lived with her husband until his death in 1982.

Georgia will always be remembered for her love of desserts and chocolate; her appreciation for the beauty of nature, color and music; and her loyalty to her friends and her cat, Mitzi.

Georgia is survived by her good friend, Billie Thornsley of Camp Hill; a cousin, Marion Fleming and a nephew, Paul K. Rivers, both of Butler; and a niece, Christine Kuklinca of Warren, Ohio.

SHAUB — Graveside services for Georgia A. Biehl Shaub, who died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 in the Messiah Village Chapel, Mechanicsburg.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church in America, 6098 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109.Arrangements are entrusted to the Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.For more information, visit www.malpezzifuneralhome.com.
