The Cranberry Jewish Community association will host a preliminary Hanukkah evening of fun, fellowship and holiday fare at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the social room of The Gables, a townhouse community along Brickyard Road in Adams Township.

Attendees are asked to take their own menorahs for a communal practice candle lighting. Candles will be provided along with challah, wine, dreidels, latkes and other traditional holiday fare.

The informal Shabbat celebration is open to anyone interested in marking the onset of Hanukkah, which officially begins the following Tuesday evening. Admission is $5 per adult, or $3 per child up to age 6.

The Sacred Music Choir of Butler will perform a Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Saint Peter's Anglican (Episcopal) Church, 218 E. Jefferson St.The concert of choral and organ music will include selections from the 13th to 20th centuries celebrating the Christmas season.The program will be directed by Daryl Kemerer, a graduate of the College of Church Musicians at Washington National Cathedral and a retired Butler School District music teacher. He and his wife Kathy will play the three manual, 38-rank Zimmer organ in the 100-year-old sanctuary.For more information, call 724-865-2548.

SAXONBURG — St. Luke Lutheran Church will host Hometown Bethlehem, an interactive family event, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Centennial Hall behind the church at State and Main streets.The event will include live animals, a stable, manger, crafts, the telling of the Christmas story and caroling.A hands-on craft activity will be available at three village stations.The Christmas story, adapted from “The Stable Where Jesus was Born” by Rhonda Gowler Greene, will be narrated and portrayed by church youths.For more information, call 724-352-2333.

The Church at the Heights Butler campus will host an outdoor live nativity on Sunday.Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tours will begin at 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave.Cash donations will support Operation Christmas Child.

BUFFALO TWP — Cornerstone Baptist Bible Church, Iron Bridge Road north of Freeport, will host the Christmas cantata “Christmas on the Air” at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday.The cantata is a production of Majesty Music and is written by Ron and Shelley Hamilton and David Burke.For more information, call 724-295-2707.<B><I><U></B></U></I>
