Slippery Rock University outscored Mansfield 10-3 early in overtime and went on to post a 78-72 PSAC men’s basketball victory Saturday.

John Valeriano had a career-high 23 points, Aubin Reeves added 12 points and five rebounds, Tabari Perry 11 points and seven rebounds and Chaquille Pratt had 10 points and 11 rebounds, all for The Rock (5-5, 3-3).

Indoor trackMorgan Elliott won the mile in 4 minutes, 17.9 seconds to reach the PSAC-qualifying standard to lead the SRU men’s team at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala Saturday.Ethan Geisler (Slippery Rock High) placed ninth in the 60-meter hurdles and was a member of the 1,600-meter relay team that placed sixth. Hunter Williams (Seneca Valley) was also part of that relay that reached the qualifying standard.In the women’s meet, SRU had five top-10 performances, including three in the top six of the 800-meter run.Janine Powls led the way with a runner-up finish as all three of the athletes reached the PSAC qualifying standard.Kim Stitt did likewise in three events (triple jump, shot put and 60 hurdles).Katelyn Wetzel (Butler) met the qualifying standard in the 400 (1:01.67) as well as the 60 (8.05).
