Robert W. “Uncle Bob” Linn, 94, of Butler, formerly of Tidioute, passed away Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born Feb. 21, 1917, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Henry Jacob and Bertha Reisch Linn, who are deceased.

Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Anderson as an electricians mate first class.

During his career, Robert was the director of education at Dean Technical Institute, the state director of veterans education; and he retired from the Upper St. Clair School District as the superintendent of buildings and grounds.

Robert was a member of the Dormont Masonic Lodge, the West Hickory United Methodist Church and the Dormont Sportsman Club.

Uncle Bob enjoyed woodworking, reading, telling stories of his World War II experiences, fishing, hunting, remodeling projects and spending time with his family.

Surviving him are numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine M. Linn; five sisters. and one brother.

<B>LINN</B> — Friends of Robert W. “Uncle Bob” Linn, who died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at <B>FOX FUNERAL HOME</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Bruce Merrit, pastor of the Nixon United Methodist Church, will officiate.
