Shirley Mae Knight Ferry Uber, 80, of Liberty Township, Mercer County, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Thursday at her home.

She was born in Springfield Township, Mercer County, on Aug. 10, 1931, to James “Poppy” Knight and Cecile Agnes Perrine Knight.

She married Robert Ferry on Sept. 27, 1950, and he died Oct. 4, 1958. She then married Bernard Eugene “Gene” Uber Sr. on April 7, 1962, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 2009.

She was a homemaker and attended the Barkeyville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working with puzzles and watching game shows.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol A. (Butch) English of Slippery Rock and Belinda M. (Mark A.) Phillips of Shady Spring, W.Va.; one son, William P. Ferry and his companion, Lorraine Morgan, of Mercer; two stepdaughters, Barbara (Richard) Freeman of Grove City and Bonita “Gay” Wallace of Rochester, N.Y.; three sisters, Betty McDonald of Wampum, Anna Donaldson of Shady Spring, W.Va., and Phyllis (Richard) English of Harrisville; two brothers, Gaylord Knight of Grove City and Henry Knight Sr. of Mercer; five grandchildren, Chad Ferry, Jeffrey Steele, Heidi Yeager, Mark W. Phillips and Caitlin Ferry; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one sister, Ruby Knight Uber; three brothers, Walter, Charles and John; one stepson, Robert Ferry; and one grandson, Justin Ferry.

<B>UBER</B> — Friends of Shirley Mae Knight Ferry Uber, who died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, will be received at the <B>Smith Funeral Home, Village of Leesburg</B>, 1778 Perry Highway, Volant, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with pastors Carol Hickman and Stephanie Thompson and hospice chaplain Adam Rodgers presiding. Interment will be in North Liberty Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 710 N. Hermitage Road, Suite 1, Hermitage, PA 16148.
