Edward Bartell
Edward Bartell, 84, of Butler passed away Wednesday at his home.
Born in Lomax, W.Va., June 25, 1927, he was the son of the late Lee and Victoria Codispot Bartell Sr.
Edward was a retired electrician, having worked for the Devlin Electrical Construction Co. He also formerly owned and operated Bartells' Grocery on West Wayne Street in Butler.
He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church of Butler and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by one daughter, Vickie Bartell Gibson of Hartsville, S.C.; one brother, Joseph Bartell and his wife, Edith, of Butler; one grandson, Leland Wallace “Trey” Gibson III and his wife, Robin, of Hartsville, S.C.; one granddaughter, Shelly Denise Hatchell and her husband, Ryan, of Advance, N.C.; one great-granddaughter, Delia Victoria Hatchell, of Advance, N.C.; and one great-grandson, Leland Wallace “Ace” Gibson IV, of Hartsville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
<B>BARTELL</B> — There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial for Edward Bartell, who died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, will be celebrated at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Father James Dolan officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Michael Cemetery.The family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, PA, 16001 or to the West Hartsville Baptist Church, 1003 W.
