Anna Y. Turowski, 92, of Butler died Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice, Concordia Lutheran Ministries, in Cabot.

Born Jan. 3, 1919, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Sophia (Zofai) Yellenik.

She was a member of the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church and had been a member of the former St. John Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora, where she was very active in church activities.

Anna enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and she also liked to read, knit and crochet.

She was a homemaker and had worked at the W.T. Grant store at the Greater Butler Mart and also for Eckert Drug Store.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary E. Turowski; a number of nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Jacques.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zigmunt S. Turowski, who she married June 3, 1943. He died Sept. 27, 1968. As the last surviving member of her family, she also was preceded by her five brothers and sisters, Mary Yellenik Kovacik, John Yellenik, Andrew C. Yellenik M.D., Sophia Yellenik Erhard R.N., and Helen Yellenik Collins.

<B>TUROWSKI</B> — A Mass of Christian burial for Anna Y. Turowski, who died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.Memorial donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 601 Maiden Choice Lane, Baltimore, MD 21228; to the Foot and Mouth Painting Artists, 2070 Peachtree Court, Suite 101, Atlanta, GA 30341; or to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 400 E.
