Thanksgiving blaze damages city home
Faulty wiring is blamed for a Thanksgiving Day fire that damaged a Butler home, investigators said.
Kory Guynup was not at home and his two dogs inside managed to get out on their own through a “doggie door.”
The blaze shortly after midnight caused about $40,000 in damage to the two-story house in the 200 block of North Monroe Street, said Butler Fire Chief Nick Ban.
He suspected the electrical fire started in the first floor hallway.
“A neighbor smelled smoke, came outside to look and could see the flames through the French doors at the front of the house,” Ban said.
The fire was contained within 15 minutes.
While the entire house sustained smoke damage, the fire damage was limited.
