FORWARD TWP — A company that makes trailers for Marcellus Shale gas drilling companies is looking to expand and might soon buy the warehouse that previously was the site of Three Rivers Ice Cream.

Pasquale Verona, who owns and operates Marcellus Gas Field Services, has been leasing space in that warehouse for about two months and is negotiating with owner Mike Hartley to buy the space.

The company builds trailers for gas companies, trailers that Verona described as “living quarters” for workers who are required to be on drilling sites 24-hours a day.

“Gas companies require their employees be on site for safety reasons,” Verona said.

The workers provide a quick alert in case of an emergency at the drill site, he said.

Verona also said the company, headquartered on Mars Evans City Road in Jackson Township, is outgrowing its space and looking for more room to grow.

He also said he expects some sort of deal to be done in about two weeks.
