An estimated 450 costumed children participated in treat or treat festivities in October of 1984 at the Butler Mall, visiting the shopping center’s 30 merchants. Afterward, the youngsters took part in a mall-sponsored costume contest. This year, many communities, including Butler and Butler Township, are holding their trick or treat observances Monday.
