DeCola takes 4th place in state
Butler High senior golfer Marissa DeCola shot a 78 Tuesday and finished with a fourth-place, two-day total of 158 at the PIAA Girls Golf Championships, held at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.
Council Rock North's Erica Herr won the state title with a 74-76—150.
Girls VolleyballSlippery Rock 3, Sharon 0 — Marie Takach had 27 assists, 21 service points and eight aces to lead the Rockets (13-0).Game scores were 25-4, 25-8 and 25-12.Stormie Hockenberry contributed six kills and seven service points while Emily Jones had 10 service points; Jordan McCauley five digs; Laura Hilliard 10 kills, 14 service points and six aces; Heather Urbanik six kills.Slippery Rock hosts Greenville Thursday for Senior Night.
A-C Valley 3, Clarion-Limestone 1 — The Falcons (12-1) closed their regular season with a 25-12, 23-25, 25-17, 25-15 win.Alexis Linamen totaled 14 kills, Kelsey Boocks eight kills and three blocks, Meredith Snyder 16 assists and Abby Wetzel five aces and 12 digs.A-C Valley also took the junior varsity match, 2-1. Jessica Callender served up six aces and Courtney Fitzgerald added eight kills.
Girls SoccerHickory 4, Slippery Rock 0 — The Rockets were in a scoreless tie at halftime before allowing four goals — the latter on a penalty kick — in the second half Monday night.
Ice HockeySeneca Valley 1, Bethel Park 0 — Luke Reed's goal off an assist from Andrew Gagnon was all the Raiders needed, thanks to 24 saves from goalie Ethan Helbig.
Freeport 8, Bishop McCort 0 — Gregory Newman, Justin Drzemiecki and Eric Waddell each scored twice while John Bird and Tyler Bonitsky both had one goal.Freeport goalie Cody Lee made 13 saves in the shutout.
