SR, Freeport stay unbeaten
Marie Takach had 10 service points, including three aces, and 28 assists and Stormie Hockenberry seven kills as the Slippery Rock volleyball team swept Meadville 25-12, 25-12, 25-16 and wrapped up the Region 3 title Thursday.
Jordan McCauley added 10 digs and six kills, Laura Hilliard nine points and five kills, Megan Little and Carly Shearer nine digs each and Heather Urbaniak seven kills.
The junior varsity squad won 26-24, 19-25, 16-14.
The Rockets (12-0) will host Sharon on Tuesday.
Karns City 3, Venango Catholic 0 — Leah Bullman had 11 points and Heather Henry nine kills to power the Gremlins to the KSAC win.Leah McGuire and Jordan Downs added 11 and 10 service points, respectively, for the Gremlins (6-5), who will await the District 9 playoff pairings.
Freeport 3, Highlands 0 — Lynsey Gugino had 19 assists, eight service points and seven kills to lead the Yellowjackets to a 25-3, 25-14, 25-6 victory.Taylor Schrecengost added 14 points, four aces and seven kills and Jessica McFadden pitched in 19 digs for Freeport (16-0, 14-0), which will open the WPIAL playoffs next week.
A-C Valley 3, East Forest 0 — Emily Quaill had 18 service points, nine aces and five kills and Abby Wetzel added 10 points as the Falcons won their 11th consecutive game with a 25-12, 25-11, 25-13 victory.Mikayli Terwilliger, Kelsey Boocks and Alexis Linamen had five kills each. Tricia Kerlin and Jessica Callender added four and three kills, respectively.The Falcons junior varsity team won 2-1 as Sadie Longo had seven kills and Courtney Fitzgerald four kills.A-C Valley (11-1) will travel to Clarion-Limestone Tuesday.
