SRU soccer clinches playoffs
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University women’s soccer team clinched a PSAC playoff berth and posted its eighth consecutive shutout Tuesday, defeating Mansfield 1-0 at Egli Field.
The Rock (11-3-2, 8-2-2) has not been scored upon in its last 721 minutes of play. SRU has allowed only one goal in its last 908 minutes of action.
Butler graduate Lisa Rodgers earned the shutout for The Rock, lowering her goals-against average to 0.45. SRU had an 18-3 advantage in shots.
Lucy Hannon scored the only goal of the game at the 21:37 mark of the first half, assisted by Shelby Ward.
SRU closes the regular season with home games on consecutive Saturdays, taking on Gannon at 3:30 p.m. this Saturday and Lock Haven at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 29.
